Problems/Comments

In 1990 ADEC investigated a public complaint regarding abandoned drums with unknown contents leaking on the ground. 16 corroded drums were found and determined to contains liquid asphalt. Extent of contamination and threat to human health unknown. A 1998 site visit by John Dixon identified 22 drums of asphalt product. Drums were further deteriorated with bullet holes and corrosion. Given remote location and lack of receptors site ranked as low priority. Cross reference file 140.02.025. Located behind Timber Station and appear to have been abandoned ten or more years ago. Site is several hundred feet northwest of the Haines Pipeline Timber Pump Station. Drums located on state land managed by DNR.
