Problems/Comments

Limited investigation by FDIC revealed possible spills near above-ground fuel tanks; 5 USTs located on the property; leaking drums on property may contain "cutback" asphalt and other substances. Drums may have been left there by state road construction crews. Cross reference file 170.23.003. Letter to ADEC requesting investigation from Carol Johnson Lundberg, Liquidation Attorney dated 5/25/90. Possible LUST site. Last staff assigned was B. Thomas. (rpltr6)

6/26/2008 Update or Other Action ADEC personnel visited site. 100-200 corroded drums containing asphalt are located in several areas north of buildings. Small shop had two injection wells. Large shop had old batteries and waste oil drums (3-5) which were leaking in area with distressed vegetation north of building. In the large shop, drums of unknown content, motor oil, truck cleaner were present. Possible haz materials in large shop building as well. Unknown UST locations. 7/23/2008 Update or Other Action ADEC received missing site assessment completed in 1991 by Shannon & Wilson. 9 soil borings were drilled, various samples were taken. Low levels of PCBs and Asbestos were detected. Lead was not detected in paint. Borings near USTs were clean. GW is reportedly > 102 feet bgs. Neal Everson

4/20/2009 Update or Other Action Current owner has plans to use cutback asphalt for fuel. Owner says that the waste oil drums, batteries were placed there by trespassers. Sent DEC letter explaining cleanup process and requirement for qualified consultant and workplan before cleanup begins. Neal Everson
1/4/2010 Update or Other Action Linked database entry to the UST facility known as 40-mile Roadhouse. Checked with Cheryl Paige of UST Program to see if they have tank removal reports in their files. Current owner indicated tanks were pulled by Cascade Environmental in 1996 or 97. The UST database indicates tanks were removed but does not indicate a site assessment was submitted. Janice Wiegers
