Problems/Comments

Petroleum hydrocarbon contamination was identified in 1991 from fuel and oil spills of above ground tanks and drum storage areas. Extent of contamination and hazard to human health unknown. Concern for possible ground water contamination exists. Maximum detection of Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TEPH) was 25,000 parts per million (ppm). Maximum detection of Total Recoverable Petroleum Hydrocarbon was 66,000 ppm. This site was originally investigated by the National Park Service in 1991, however the site is believed to be an in-holding and is now operated as a tourism lodge. Correct land ownership was identified in 2017. (FKA: NPS Denali Mountain Lodge - Area # 4)
