Problems/Comments

The UST and associated piping were TTT on 7/18/92. The tests indicated that the avgas tank and line are not leaking at this time. A separate line that supplies Jet A to a fuel cart (from an above ground bulk tank) was found to be leaking and has been taken out of service. Mark Greenough is the contact person for Mark Air, Ph # 266 6745. Bulk fuel tanks are located on ADOT/PF leased land. Shah Alam (DEC) reviewed a Corrective Action Plan in 10/99, submitted for the site by Hart Crowser. His conclusions were that the groundwater is used as a domestic water source, and must be remediated. In March 2008, ADEC determined that this release was not caused by regulated underground storage tank systems, so this LUST site is now closed and the contamination is now being managed under Contaminated Sites file number 2404.38.010, MarkAir Aniak Airport, Reckey:1992-25-01-193-01. Updated 5-7-08 by P.Horwath.

3/5/2008 Site Closure Approved A review of the file showed that the contamination was due to a leak in the line running from an AST to the dispenser system along the runway. The line ran adjacent to the UST location. This gave the initial impression of a LUST site when the UST was removed. No contaminaiton associated with the UST system was discovered. This site is being worked as a contaminated site, not a LUST site. Donald Seagren
6/13/2008 Update or Other Action Site transferred from Don Seagren to Paul Horwath per Linda Nuechterlein. Alyce Hughey
