Problems/Comments

During the removal of two 2,000 gallon diesel and gasoline underground storage tanks on July 1, 1997 and one 2,000 gallon heating oil AST in 1999, soil and groundwater contamination was encountered. GRO, DRO and Benzene contamination was a result of historic over filling. Approximately 755 cubic yards of contaminated soil was transported and thermally remedeated at Alaska Soil and Recycling in Anchorage. Continual groundwater monitoring will be done as funding becomes available. Updated 11-15-06 Alyce Hughey.
