Long Term Monitoring Established |
Received Soil Boring and Groundwater Sampling Report. Three new wells were installed on the eastern edge of property to investigate whether an upgradient source of contamination exists. Benzene was detected at a level of approximately 0.01 mg/L in two of the three wells installed, which supports the argument for an upgradient source of contamination. |

Conditional Closure Approved |
Record of Decision (ROD) submitted to responsible party. ROD states that there is benzene contamination remaining above the established cleanup levels in the soil and groundwater southeast of the former USTs, piping, and the fuel distribution systems. The remaining contamination is likely due to contaminant migration from adjacent properties. The low levels of benzene in soil and groundwater on the eastern portion of the property, which are only slightly above established cleanup levels, are expected to be treated over time via natural attenuation. As a result, the Department has determined that the levels of contaminants of concern at Tudor Car Wash pose no risk to human health or the environment. In November 2005 , well decommissioning report confirmed that on-site drinking water wells were decommissioned; Therefore, this site is closed effective December 2, 2005. |
