Problems/Comments

In October 1993, the Department received a report documenting the removal of two underground storage tanks (USTs) from the Evert's facility located at Block 3, Lot 1, consisting of one 1,000-gallon gasoline tank, and one 500-gallon diesel tank. Diesel petroleum impacts (up to 17,000 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg)) were detected at the limits of the excavation. Approximately 50-cubic yards of soil were removed from the excavation and stockpiled for future treatment. The stockpile was transferred to Everts Storage Yard (file 100.23.087 hazard ID 1644). The consultant recommended additional characterization, to delineate the extent of the soil contamination and evaluate potential groundwater impacts. To that extent, two monitoring wells were installed and sampled once, although a quarterly monitoring program was proposed. Results yielded low concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons below the ADEC maximum contaminant levels. Associated sites include Everts Air Fuel (100.23.087) and FIA Everts Air Fuel, Blk 3, Lot 1 (100.26.141).

11/15/1993 Underground Storage Tank Site Characterization or Assessment SA1; DUPEE: Site assessment undertaken by RZA AGRA for Evert's Fuel. Six soil samples collected from base of excavation pit at 10 to 12 feet. Petroleum levels were observed at concentrations up to 6,700 mg/kg for DRPH, 17,000 mg/kg for GRPH, and 4 mg/kg for benzene.. A test pit was advance to 17 feet, where contaminants levels appeared to be decreasing. 50 cubic yards of soil stockpiled onsite. Unknown whether groundwater impacted. Former Staff

No analytes were detected in MW-1 when it was last sampled in 2000. MW-2 did contain DRO and GRO above the cleanup levels in 2000, but was not viable in 2006. This well should be replaced. Kim DeRuyter
