Problems/Comments

Investigation of black soil material surrounding piping from a 15,000 gallon heating oil UST on 8/23/96 found DRO at 2,320 ppm . An approximate 17 cubic yard soil stockpile was existing on site from a previous excavation. A duplicate of soil sample D55751-5 for this stockpile resulted in benzene at 0.984 ppm, above the cleanup level of 0.5 ppm. A second stockpile of approximately 16 cybic yards was made on 8-23-96. The analytical results for this second stockpile were below cleanup levels. Based on available information it is unclear whether the UST was left in-place or not. Very little information in the file. The elevation is ~12 meters (~38 feet). West and Romig School Sites Subdivision, Tract 1.

9/16/1999 Site Closure Approved A letter was sent this date to the ASD indicating that petroleum hydrocarbon contamination in the soil around and beneath the UST did not exceed the 18 AAC 75.34(a), Method 1, Category A for the site. No site map available to indicate UST location. Coordinates are for "centroid" of the school and gross. Needs better locational data. Bill Petrik
