Problems/Comments
The former Arctic Wilderness Lodge was a former lease from ADNR. The leasee ran a hunting camp on the Happy Valley East pad and there is contamination in the pad associated with the fuel storage area from the hunting camp. The permittee died in a plane crash and the site is now considered a "state lead" site. Efforts are being taken by the state to remove the tanks and investigate the soil. The current operator as of August 2006 is Walt Audi.

This site had been contaminated by the release of a hazardous substance; however, based on the information provided to date, ADEC has determined that no further remedial action is required, and that the Arctic Wilderness Lodge site can be closed subject to the conditions outlined in the Record of Decision.
