Problems/Comments

Small quantity of waste rock and mine tailings present. Elevated levels of heavy metals present in soils and stream sediment. DEC concurred with selection of "No Action Alternative". USFS needs to place administrative site controls on the land.

6/28/2012 Cleanup Complete Determination Issued In 2004, DEC concurred with the No Action Alternative with the stipulation that the site remain designated for recreational use and asked the USFS to mark this usage on its GIS land management system as the requirement for closure. To date, DEC has not been informed that this has occurred. According to the 2009 closure policy, DEC can close the site without this information however the USFS remains responsible for putting the designation on the GIS system. A closure letter to this effect was sent this date. Anne Marie Palmieri
