Problems/Comments
Assessments of facilities in Kwigillingok were conducted. The DEC's AST Program requested an assessment of Kwigillingok tank farms to gather preliminary information on historic fuel releases and abandoned bulk oil storage sites. The information obtained was used to develop recommendations for further site investigations. However, the AST program funding was eliminated and no follow up occurred after this report until one of the investigated locations was addressed through the DEC Brownfield Assessment program - see file 2425.57.001: Kwigillingok Former BIA School. The drinking water source for the village is derived from snow melt and a lake reservoir which is over 2 miles away from this site. This database record is to be used to track information that is not specific to any site, and may be used to reference specific sites in Kwigillingok for which problems were identified. It is likely that after individual sites are entered into the database, this record will no longer be required.
