Problems/Comments

A 3,000 gallon heating oil UST was removed and being replaced by an AST. Contamination is thought to result from overfills and leaks from the area of a missing bung hole gasket. Soil contamination remains on site. Maximum DRO contamination is 3,280 mg/kg. Soil contamination at the soil water interface is 1,070 mg/kg DRO. Groundwater depth is approximately 14.5 feet. The elevation is approximately 8 feet the gradient is 9.1 percent. The site is approximately 300 feet from the Odiak Inlet.

Mr. Goosens agreed to check on the status of soil stockpiled at Fleming Point and to see if there are other people at the City who have knowledge of the project. Bill O'Connell

7/25/2007 Conditional Closure Approved The Department of Environmental Conservation, Contaminated Sites Program (ADEC) reviewed the environmental records associated with the City of Cordova High School. This site had been contaminated by the release of a hazardous substance; however, based on the information provided to date, ADEC has determined that no further remedial action is required, and that the City of Cordova High School can be closed subject to the conditions outlined below. The hazardous substance contamination has been adequately addressed and does not pose an unacceptable risk to human health or the environment. Bill O'Connell

A Notice of Environmental Contamination will be recorded on the ADEC database to document that there is residual contamination remaining on site above the most stringent ADEC cleanup levels; 2.
