7/31/1995 Update or Other Action This site was worked on a couple of years ago. Dan Lawn does not know if it was ever closed officially, although whoever did the work left a lot of fuel in the ground under an old tank that thay just filled with sand. A new tank was installed and apparently a line coming from it was not adequately installed as it broke and there was another spill. All of the contaminated gravel that could be removed has been excavated and is properly stored. There are two copies of the site assessment and clean up documentation being prepared for ADEC and we should have by 8/15/95. I worked with the college and their contractor when they did the excavation. The contaminated soils will be included with the ADOT/PF road project. Some perforated pipe was put in place next to the building foundation, fertilizer was applied, and a 36" diameter monitoring stand pipe was installed in case they need access. The college is on city water and sewer. Mike Krieber

4/4/2008 Update or Other Action Spoke with Hoard Morse at UAA. The well has been dry so far in 2008, but observation will continue and if water is present, a sample will be collected. Anecdotal evidence indicates the water table elevation in this area has been dropping for the last 10 years or so. Mr. Morse will check with the City of Valdez to see if any drinking water wells are in the area. Bill O'Connell
10/24/2008 Update or Other Action The sample collected from the monitoring well at PWSCC was lost by the lab. An attempt to sample the well will be made again in 2009. Bill O'Connell
