Description
This facility was formerly a convenience store. Two UST systems were located at the site, consisting of four 10,000-gallon gasoline tanks, one 1,000-gallon and one 5,000 diesel tanks, and associated dispensing equipment. The tank systems were closed and removed in 1991, prior to the construction of the Mitchell Expressway overpass. Soils removed from the site were thermally remediated and a Soil Vapor Extraction/Air Sparging system was installed, as well as use of solid oxygen-releasing compound.
Public Health and Environmental Concerns
The Contaminants of Concern (COCs) are primarily petroleum compounds. Significant petroleum contamination in the soil and groundwater existed at the site; however, recent results have indicated that limited contamination remains.
Current Status
This site has received financial grants from the DEC Financial Assistance Program to conduct additional monitoring and system decommissioning.
