Process for Disposing Old Devices

Removed/used wood fired heating devices may not be reinstalled within the nonattainment area. For a limited time, free of charge, removed devices may be disposed of as follows:

  1. Device owner: Call the FNSB Air Quality Program at 459-1005 and ask to make an appointment to drop-off old wood fired heating device.

  2. At the appointment (drop off-time), device owner must sign a certificate of destruction - this certificate is the acknowledgement that once the stove is relinquished to the Borough, it cannot be taken back. In addition, there is an understanding the wood fired heating device will be destroyed and recycled as scrape metal.
