DEC Final Regulations & SIP - Fairbanks North Star Borough Fine Particulate Matter (PM2.5)

DEC proposed regulations and amendments to the State Implementation Plan (SIP) to address Fine Particulate Matter (PM2.5) within the Fairbanks North Star Borough Nonattainment Area in November 2014. The regulations were designed to help improve the wintertime air quality in the Fairbanks North Star Borough nonattainment area and the SIP is a plan required by the federal Clean Air Act. The SIP is developed at the state level to explain how the state will comply with federal air quality standards and submitted to EPA. The public review period lasted 35 days and included open houses in Fairbanks and North Pole and hearings in Fairbanks, Anchorage, and Juneau. DEC considered all comments recieved during the comment period when choosing to adopt a portion of the proposed regulations. The proposed and adopted regulations are posted below.
