The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) proposes to renew Air Quality Control Operating Permit Nos. AQ0072TVP02, AQ0074TVP02, AQ0098TVP02, AQ0077TVP02, and AQ0079TVP02, for the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) Pump Stations 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9, respectively, under Alaska Statutes 46.14 and regulation 18 AAC 50. The draft renewal permits for these Pump Stations had prior public notices with public comment periods to end at earlier dates.
ADEC extends the public comment period for these draft
renewal permits at applicant’s request. The
period for each listed permit action now closes December 9, 2009.

Activity: These Pump Stations are crude oil pumping and support facilities along TAPS, which transport crude oil from the North Slope of Alaska to the Valdez Marine Terminal.
ADEC Preliminary Review: Based on review of the applications, ADEC drafted preliminary permit
decisions for the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) Pump Stations 1, 3, 5, 7,
and 9.

Opportunity for Public Participation: Notice is also given that any interested person may present written statements relevant to the draft documents on or before the due date for public comments indicated below. Any person may request a public hearing and that hearing will be held if ADEC finds that good cause exists. ADEC will consider all comments received and make any changes ADEC finds beneficial or necessary to assure compliance with 18 AAC 50 or State Law. ADEC will issue a final decision to issue or deny the permits after the close of the public comment period. Written comments will be included in the record if received before 5:00 p.m. December 9, 2009. ADEC complies with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
