BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc., Grind and inject facility (G&I)

 

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) proposes to renew an Air Quality Control Operating Permit to the Grind and Inject Facility (G&I), under Alaska Statutes 46.14 and regulation 18 AAC 50.

 

Applicant:      BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc.

 

Location:        Section 11, Township 11N, Range 14E, Umiat Meridian, Prudhoe Bay, AK

 

Activity:          Crusher, Grinding Mill, Gas-fired Seawater Heater

 

BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. submitted a renewal application on July 5, 2007. 

 

Emissions:      The potential annual emissions of regulated air pollutants at the source will not exceed: 1 tons of Particulate Matter, 16 tons of Nitrogen Oxides, 2 tons of Sulfur Dioxide, 13 tons of Carbon Monoxide, and less than one ton of VOC.  The total assessable emissions of regulated air pollutants are 33.5 tons per year.

 

ADEC Preliminary Review: Based on review of the application, ADEC drafted a preliminary permit decision for the G&I.

The administrative record for this permit is available for review at ADEC’s Anchorage office during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Opportunity for Public Participation: Notice is also given that any interested person may present written statements relevant to the draft documents within 30 days after the first publication date.  Any person may request a public hearing and that hearing will be held if ADEC finds that good cause exists.  ADEC will consider all comments received and make any changes ADEC finds beneficial or necessary to assure compliance with 18 AAC 50 or State Law.  ADEC will issue a final decision to issue or deny the permit after the close of the public comment period.  Written comments will be included in the record if received before 5:00 p.m. November 23, 2009.  ADEC complies with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.  If you are a person with a disability who may need a special accommodation in order to participate in this public process, please contact Deborah Pock at (907) 269-0291 or TDD Relay Service 1-800-770-8973/TTY or dial 711 within 30 days of publication of this notice to ensure that any necessary accommodations can be provided.
