Anchorage Municipal Light and Power,

George M. Sullivan Generation Plant Two

 

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) proposes to renew an Air Quality Control Operating Permit to the Anchorage Municipal Light and Power, George M. Sullivan Generation Plant Two, under Alaska Statutes 46.14 and regulation 18 AAC 50.

Activity:          Electricity Generation

 

The Anchorage Municipal Light and Power applied on October 7, 2005.  This public notice is for the draft operating permit renewal only.

 

Emissions:      The potential annual emissions of regulated air pollutants at the source will not exceed:  79.0 tons of Particulate Matter-10 Microns, 3811 tons of Nitrogen Oxides, 42.1 tons of Sulfur Dioxide, 976 tons of Carbon Monoxide, and 25.5 tons of Volatile Organic Compounds.  The total emissions of regulated air pollutants is 4,934 tons per year.

 

ADEC Preliminary Review: Based on review of the application, ADEC drafted a preliminary permit decision for the George M. Sullivan Generation Plant Two.

The administrative record for this permit is available for review at ADEC’s Anchorage office during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Opportunity for Public Participation: Notice is also given that any interested person may present written statements relevant to the draft documents within 30 days after the first publication date.  Any person may request a public hearing and that hearing will be held if ADEC finds that good cause exists.  ADEC will consider all comments received and make any changes ADEC finds beneficial or necessary to assure compliance with 18 AAC 50 or State Law.  ADEC will issue a final decision to issue or deny the permit after the close of the public comment period.  Written comments will be included in the record if received before 5:00 p.m. May 5, 2008.  ADEC complies with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.  If you are a person with a disability who may need a special accommodation in order to participate in this public process, please contact Deborah Pock at (907) 269-0291 or TDD Relay Service 1-800-770-8973/TTY or dial 711 within 30 days of publication of this notice to ensure that any necessary accommodations can be provided.
