NAKNEK ELECTRIC ASSOCIATION, INC., NAKNEK POWER PLANT

 

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) proposes to renew an Air Quality Control Operating Permit to the Naknek Electric Association, Inc., Naknek Power Plant, under Alaska Statutes 46.14 and regulation 18 AAC 50.

Location:        1 School Road, Naknek, Alaska  99633

 

Activity:          Electricity Generation

 

The Naknek Electric Association, Inc., Naknek Power Plant applied for an operating permit renewal on March 2, 2006.  This public notice is for the draft operating permit renewal only.[jb1] 

 

Emissions:      Potential annual regulated air pollutant emissions will not exceed:  16 tons of Particulate Matter ≤10 Microns, 563 tons of Nitrogen Oxides, 82 tons of Sulfur Dioxide, 129 tons of Carbon Monoxide, and 15 tons of Volatile Organic Compounds. [jb2] 

 

ADEC Preliminary Review: Based on review of the application, ADEC drafted a preliminary permit decision for the Naknek Electric Association, Inc., Naknek Power Plant.

The administrative record for this permit is available for review at ADEC’s Anchorage office during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Opportunity for Public Participation: Notice is also given that any interested person may present written statements relevant to the draft documents within 30 days after the first publication date.  Any person may request a public hearing and that hearing will be held if ADEC finds that good cause exists.  ADEC will consider all comments received and make any changes ADEC finds beneficial or necessary to assure compliance with 18 AAC 50 or State Law.  ADEC will issue a final decision to issue or deny the permit after the close of the public comment period.  Written comments will be included in the record if received before 5:00 p.m. June 2, 2008.  ADEC complies with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
