Problems/Comments

A 3,000 gallon gasoline UST was removed from the site in 1992, 70 cubic yards of hydrocarbon contaminated soil was stockpiled onsite. One sample from beneath the the tank contained 5,800 mg/kg GRO and 2.2mg/kg benzene. The static water level in the onsite well was measured at 85'. A 10,000 gallon diesel UST was removed from the site in 1998, 80 cubic yards of hydrocarbon contaminated soil from spills and overfills was removed from the excavation. Soil samples at the limits of excavation did not contain contamination above the laboratory PQLs; PQLs were below cleanup levels. Soil borings in the vicinity of the gasoline UST contained 6,580 mg/kg GRO, 2,670 mg/kg DRO, and 0.304 benzene, at depths ranging from 17, to 39 feet. Contamination was not detected in seven groundwater samples taken from the on-site drinking water well between 1992 and 2006.

No analytes were detected above labortatoy practical quantitation limits. This is the 4th clean sample from the DW well since sampling began in 2002, no analytes have been detected above the PQL. Kim DeRuyter

1/11/2007 Institutional Control Record Established A Notice of Environmental Contamination will be listed on the ADEC Contaminated Sites Database identifying the nature and extent of contamination remaining on site. In accordance with 18 AAC 78.274(b), the transport of soil or groundwater from this site requires ADEC review and approval prior to any transport. Kim DeRuyter
1/11/2007 Conditional Closure Approved In 1993, four soil borings were drilled near the former gasoline tank and dispenser island. The results indicated that GRO and DRO contamination extended 25 to 40 feet bgs. Benzene was detected at 0.304 mg/kg at 39 feet; GRO at 6,580 mg/kg at 19 feet, and DRO at 2,670 mg/kg at 17 feet. Kim DeRuyter
12/20/2011 Update or Other Action Site management staff changed to IC Unit. Evonne Reese
12/20/2011 Institutional Control Compliance Review IC review conducted, need to find a copy of the closure document, reminder system updated. Evonne Reese
8/12/2014 Institutional Control Record Removed The conditions at this site meet the 2009 closure policy, therefore ICs can be removed. The default requirement of no offsite transport of soil or groundwater will still apply. In accordance with 18 AAC 78.276(f)(2), ADEC may require additional site assessment, monitoring, remediation, and/or other necessary actions at this facility should new information become available that indicates contamination at this site may pose a threat to human health or the environment. A letter to ADOT was sent this date that documents this decision. Evonne Reese
