Problems/Comments

Stained soil observed at vent pipe of unregulated 4,700-gallon UST and at fill pipe. Tank in good condition, only surficial soil contamination evident during removal. Phase II found DRO in soil at 430 to 1,500ppm at former tank location above GW interface. Second Phase I revealed DRO and Benzene contamination at groundwater interface in soil borings and monitoring wells up and cross-gradient of former UST site with clean soil overlaying. New double-walled 5,000 gallon AST put into service in 1998 at former location of UST. Three large tank farms, one removed in 1997, are up or cross-gradient and directly adjacent to this site. Five inches of free product was found in the monitoring well adjacent to tank farm removed in 1997.

Action Information

Action Date Action Description DEC Staff
1/6/2000 Site Ranked Using the AHRM Initial ranking. Meilani Clark
1/11/2000 Site Added to Database DRO and Benzene contamination from heating fuel oil. Site initially added by Meilani Clark this date. Added again by Bruce Wanstall on 9/20/2000. Kept the older action. Meilani Clark
9/5/2000 Site Ranked Using the AHRM Reranked after more site characterization data became available. Site changed from Medium to Low Priority. Bruce Wanstall
5/22/2001 Site Number Identifier Changed Mitzi Read pointed out that ACS Well Street Warehouse, Reckey 2000310124501, and PTI Well Street Warehouse, Reckey 1999310113501 were duplicates. Used the earlier Reckey, kept the best AHRM Score values, and combined non-duplicated actions. Former Staff
7/10/2002 GIS Position Updated Changed the Latitude, Longitude, Method Accuracy, Accuracy and Unit fields. Heather Goldman
4/17/2008 Exposure Tracking Model Ranking Initial ranking with ETM completed. Tamara Cardona-Marek
7/2/2008 Update or Other Action Based on the documents in the file and other investigations of the contamination on the railroad area, the groundwater contamination detected downgradient from the former UST location is likely the result of the contamination at the Unocal site. The highest levels of contamination was found in wells crossgradient or downgradient from the former UST location. However, no contamination was found in the well installed at the former UST location, indicating that this was not the source. No contamination above cleanup levels has been detected in the well immediately downgradient of the former UST location during 2005-2007. Tamara Cardona-Marek
7/31/2008 Conditional Closure Approved Conditional closure approved. Contamination above cleanup levels remaining on the soil. Tamara Cardona-Marek
7/31/2008 Institutional Control Record Established ADEC approval must be obtained prior to excavation, transport and/or disposal of soil or groundwater from this site. No groundwater wells will be installed on site without prior review and approval by ADEC. The wells located on the property shall not be damaged or disturbed by the owners or operators of the property. The owner/operator of the property shall grant access to other parties for the purpose of sampling and/or maintaining the monitoring wells. Tamara Cardona-Marek
3/30/2011 Institutional Control Compliance Review IC review conducted and staff named changed from Cardona to IC Unit. Erik Norberg
5/27/2014 Institutional Control Update An IC reminder letter was issued to the responsible party on this date. Kristin Thompson
6/5/2019 Institutional Control Compliance Review IC compliance review conducted and a letter to ACS was issued as a reminder of the IC requirements. Evonne Reese
