Problems/Comments
The former AVEC tank farm consisted of eight vertical tanks containing fuel oil for the city power plant owned and operated by AVEC. The tanks were contained in an unlined area bermed 3-feet high using sandbags. DRO concentrations in the soil at the former AVEC tank farm are 2,700 mg/kg, GRO concentrations are 249 mg/kg. Visual staining of surface soils and a diesel odor were observed in surface soils at the former site. Prior to relocation of the AVEC Tank Farm, the tanks and associated underground piping were in operation, in an unlined area, for a minimum of 30 years.
