Problems/Comments
The former Huslia School was located adjacent to the Koyukuk River. Heating fuel was stored on site in 55-gallon drums and hand pumped into a day tank at the school. The amount of drums known to be on site is unclear; however, local authorities estimate that at one time over 100 drums of heating fuel were stored at the former school. The school site was relocated to its current location in the 1970s. Drums at the former Huslia School Site were stored at the site in an unlined area. Historical fueling practices suggest that fuel contamination is likely.
