Problems/Comments
This site is a 3.5 acre vehicle graveyard. A phase I/II was performed on the site because it is within the proposed right-of-way to be acquired by the ADOT&PF for the proposed new airport.
Surface soil stains appear to be associated with locations where abandoned vehicles were previously parked and are a result of leaking vehicle fluids.
At only three test pits did the consultant find petroleum levels that exceeded ADEC Soil Cleanup Levels at a depth equal to or greater than 1 foot bgs.
Arsenic and chromium concentrations exceeded the ADEC Soil Cleanup Levels in nearly all samples. The metals were detected at uniform concentrations that appear to represent naturally occurring background levels.
Lead contaminated soil was also discovered in two test pits. They estimate less than 1/3 cubic yard each.
