Welcome to DEC's Rural and Tribal Environmental Issues webpage. We will be updating this site regularly to include additional resources you may find of interest, so we welcome you visiting this webpage again soon.
Alaska is a big state and home to the nation's most pristine environment and some of the most challenging environmental issues in the United States. DEC's staff use their technical resources and professional expertise to partner with communities and tribes throughout Alaska on local environmental concerns and needs.
Given the wide range of environmental issues and programs, we strive to be more accessible and helpful to rural Alaskans. The development of this page is to provide a point of contact for rural Alaskans and tribal members to access DEC services.
If you are aware of environmental issues in your local communities in rural Alaska, please use the contact form below to alert us so we can provide a proactive response. We also encourage you to use the contact form to let us know of environmental topics of particular interest to you so we can tailor this page to best fit your needs.
