The Drinking Water Program enforces regulations that state certain public water systems must be actively supervised by operators who are appropriately certified in accordance with 18 AAC 74 including all Class A PWS and all Class B PWS that use a surface water or a groundwater under the direct influence of surface water source. The Division of Water, Facilities Program, administers the Operator Certification Program that sets the classification of systems, levels of certification and the training program itself.
