Permits are required to apply pesticides:

1) Public pesticide programs or projects
2) Pesticide applications to waters of the state
3) Aerial pesticide applications by aircraft or helicopter

Permits are NOT required to apply pesticides (exemptions):

***Note: Applicants MUST contact the department. UPON WRITTEN REQUEST from the applicant, the Department may exempt the activities listed below or require a permit.

1) Applications of antimicrobial pesticides for oilfield operations or treatment of drinking water
2) Emergency exemptions as declared by the Department Commissioner
3) Applications to non-public areas of FAA-certified airports
4) Applications on less than one acre of land on a right-of-way within the boundaries of a state or municipal owned airport
5) State or University research projects involving 20 acres or les
