Seasonal Planning

You know how the saying goes - Fail to plan? Plan to fail. Just like you prepare your boat for fishing season or your snowmachine for the snow to fall, you should prepare your landfill. There are major events that could negatively impact your landfill that you can prevent.

Fire Season

Wildfires are never a good thing, but can be especially harmful if they come into contact with your landfill. Wildland firefighters will not enter the landfill to put out the fire. Their equipment and safety gear is tailored for fighting forest fires and brush, not for putting out burning waste and hazardous materials. Check out our Fire Season page for what you can do to prepare.

Minimize Flooding Impacts

Flooding is becoming more common with increasing climate change. Breakup can happen multiple times in a season and catch your community (and landfill) unprepared. Review the steps in our Minimize Flooding Impacts page to learn what you can do right now and in the long-term to reduce the potential for negative impacts from flooding.
