MP164.4 Richardson Hwy Tanker Rollover

Location Milepost 164.4 Richardson Hwy, approximately 5 miles south of Meiers Lake and 20 miles south of Paxson (Lat/Long: 62.743672, -145.443281).
Product/Quantity The spilled product is ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD). Based on a gauging of the lightered product on January 10, 2017, Colville estimates that the spill volume is approximately 4,000 gallons. Colville reported, and onsite ADEC personnel confirmed, that one compartment of the main/lead trailer was breached and its content released. The two remaining compartments of the main/lead trailer remained intact, as well as the 5,000gal capacity pup trailer that only released a small volume from a vent tube.
Cause A tractor-trailer departed the roadway (exact cause to be determined), rolled over, and an unknown object along the ditch line punctured the affected compartment of the main/lead trailer.
Time/Date of Incident The incident occurred at 3:15pm on January 9, 2017. Colville reported the spill to ADEC at 4:00pm on January 9, 2017.
