The Pipeline and Tank Integrity Section provides the engineering services that are necessary to implement spill prevention and response management programs in an efficient and effective manner. Specifically, this section provides engineering assessments of regulated facilities, the state's oil spill prevention and other department initiatives by applying knowledge of corrosion, metallurgical, hydraulic, structural, and arctic engineering. Many state of the art engineering practices are reviewed due to the scale and harshness of the northern climate.
The section provides expert level engineering service to the Industry Preparedness Program Manager and section managers to assure the structural integrity, maintenance, repair, and safety of high-volume, high-pressure pipelines, piping and storage tanks used at regulated facilities throughout the state.
Regulated entities:
Terminals and Tank Farms, Exploration, Production and Refineries, Trans-Alaska Pipeline System.
