Location | The spill occurred on Easy Street, about half a mile south of the Old Richardson Highway in Fairbanks. | ||||||||||||
| Product/Quantity | Alaska Aerofuel Inc. estimates approximately 2,550 gallons of #2 minus 15 gallons heating oil (a blend of #1 and #2 heating oils used during the winter in Fairbanks) were spilled during the incident. | |||||||||||||
| Cause | The spill was caused when the driver lost control of his truck on icy road conditions, hit a curb and rolled the truck on its side. A seam on the top of the tank failed and the fuel continued to spill until the truck was pulled upright at approximately 12:40 p.m. | |||||||||||||
