Attend the free 2015 Alaska Trucking Spill Management Workshop

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC), Alaska Department of Transportation (ADOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the United States Coast Guard (USCG) will be hosting the 2015 Alaska Trucking Spill Management workshop on May 5th in Anchorage and May 7th in Fairbanks.

Every year thousands of gallons are released in Alaska of refined fuels and hazardous substances as a result of trucking incidents. Spills vary in size and even small quantities can present a challenging cleanup. • 9:00 am Opening remarks and introductions
  • Open discussion of products and quantities currently transported in Alaska.
  • Reporting: when to report what and to who to report it to following an accident or a release.
  • Prevention, keeping trucks on the road.
  • What agencies would potentially be involved in evaluating, and coordinating the cleanup activities? A presentation by ADOT, ADEC, USCG, EPA and other agencies regarding what can be expected from their respective agencies during a response.
  • The importance of a comprehensive utility locate prior to excavation
  • The importance of adequate pollution insurance. During a response, who will be the Incident Commander, will it be a company representative or an insurance representative?
  • Lunch Break
