Incident Description
Location Goose Island in Prince William Sound. The reported location is 60° 43’ N, 146° 43’ W.
Product/Quantity Operator estimated that less than 300 gallons of diesel fuel was released after a fuel tank was ruptured by the struck rock.
Cause The cause was reportedly due to human error when the helmsman fell asleep and the vessel struck a rock near Goose Island in Prince William Sound.
Time/Date of Incident The F/V Windward struck a rock near Goose Island at approximately 8:40 PM on June 3, 2007. The operator reported the vessel’s status to ADEC at 10:30 PM on July 24, 2006.
