F/V Mar-Gun Grounding St. George Island

Incident Description

  • On March 5, 2009, the fishing vessel MAR-GUN became grounded on the north shore of St. George Island at Staraya Artil. The 5 crew members were safely evacuated by the USCG. The vessel is hard aground with nearly 15,000 gallons of diesel and 600 gallons of lube and hydraulic oils. Magone Marine has been contracted by the owners to removed the fuel on board before removing the grounded vessel.
