Repsol Q-6 Hose Rupture Fluid Release
- Time/Date of Incident
- Spill Number
- Repsol contractor Weatherford International was conducting a flow back test on an exploratory well when the transfer hose used to connect the well to a 400-barrel (17,600-gallon) storage tank failed. The hose failed when it was under pressure causing the oil to spray out onto snow-covered tundra. In response to the hose rupture, the well was shut in. Additional product was released into the bermed and lined secondary containment cell when the fluids in the storage tank drained back through the ruptured hose. The majority of the product was contained within the secondary containment area, and a light to moderate mist over approximately 0.63 acres of snow covered tundra has been reported by Repsol.
