Ocean Ranger Program Public Meeting

The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), held a public meeting about the Ocean Ranger program on June 7, 2007.  It’s purpose was to inform the public about the development of the Ocean Ranger program as mandated by Ballot Measure 2, passed by Alaskan voters in August 2006.

Presenters covered many aspects of cruise ship oversight in Alaska. Agenda topics include: a review and update on the Department’s response to the Ballot Measure; an Ocean Ranger program overview; a description of the Large Passenger Vessel Wastewater Discharge General Permit; advanced wastewater treatment systems; an update on the DEC monitoring and sampling program; the vessel tracking requirement; and cruise ship air emissions oversight.
