Exams at the Next Level

Operators can take exams at the next level before meeting the education and experience requirements for the higher level of certification. This allowance applies to the following:

An operator holding a level 1 certificate can take the level 2 exam.
An operator holding a level 2 certificate can take the level 3 exam.
An operator holding a level 3 certificate can take the level 4 exam.

When an operator passes an exam under this allowance: When an operator passes the higher level exam, the department will hold the results for as long as the lower level certificate is active. Certificates are not issued for exams passed under this allowance. The operator can apply to upgrade to the higher level once the education and experience requirements are met for the higher level. It is the operator's responsibility to apply to upgrade to the higher level and to pay the application fee.
