Follow these steps to apply for the small water system certification exams:

1. If you haven't already, click here to learn how to navigate the exam and TAKE THE SAMPLE TEST. (It is mandatory that you complete the sample test.)

2. Check eligibility:
1. Small Untreated Water System:
   1. High School diploma or GED; and
   2. Three (3) months of operating a small untreated (or higher) system OR completion of an approved training course.
2. Small Treated Water System:
1. High School diploma or GED; and
2. Six (6) months of operating a small treated (or higher) system OR completion of an approved training course.

3. Check to see if there is a proctored testing center near you:

2. Dillingham at University of Alaska Fairbanks Bristol Bay Campus
3. Fairbanks at University of Alaska Fairbanks
4. Glennallen at Prince William Sound Community College
5. Kenai at Kenai Peninsula College

7. Palmer at Mat-Su College

4. Complete the Small Untreated/Treated Water Systems Exam Application:
1. Ensure that you include a phone number and email address.
2. An email address is required since this is how we will send you verification of your eligibility to take the exam and exam information.
3. Include $20 for the application fee.
