Problems/Comments

Initially reported as a tank overflow on 6/29/90, subsequent investigation determined that the spill was caused by an underground fuel line leak of Jet A fuel estimated at 500 gallons. No known drinking water sources within 1 mile. Excavation of soils began 7/7/90 and stockpiled on Lot 1A/1B, Block 304. Last staff assigned was Sundet.

Colville Contractors removed contaminated soil and stacked soil on pit liner in the Mark Air terminal parking area. Standing fuel was found and spill determined to be larger than first reported. 24 test holes were dug and soil samples taken for TPH analysis. Sample results all below 100 ppm TPH. Former Staff

5/27/1997 Update or Other Action Restoration Science and Engineering (RSE), as a consultant for the MarkAir trustee, submits a stockpile sampling plan for the 3,500 cubic yards of soil stored in two separate stockpiles. The plan was revised in a July 21, 1997 letter from RSE based on ADEC comments. Jim Frechione
9/11/1997 Update or Other Action A sampling and analysis plan is submitted to ADEC from Philip Services Corp. for Carlile Enterprises, who purchased the former MarkAir site from the bankruptcy trustee. Jim Frechione
