Problems/Comments

Toluene and TPH and VPH in septic system. Methylene chloride in septic system. Test bore in soil contains TPH and methylene chloride. 12/03/91 assessment received. ADEC response 01/23/92 said more investigation needed. Soil contamination has been cleaned up and soil remediated. On-going groundwater monitoring on Lot 3. Low levels of volatiles in groundwater, just above drinking water MCLs. Project nearly completed. Lot 3, Block 100, Wasilla Airport. Last staff assigned was Krieber (2/12/97).

10/19/2004 Conditional Closure Approved The property (Old Wasilla Airport) is now owned by the City of Wasilla. The area has drinking water supplied by a public drinking system. The city plans to use the land for Civic buildings and public parks. The area of PCE contamination is small and stable and is not considered a threat to human health or the environment. Eric Henry

Description Details
Advance approval required to transport soil or groundwater off-site. Standard condition. Low levels of PCE were detected in soil and groundwater. No risk on site but would require review off site.
Movement or use of contaminated material (including on site) in a manner that results in a violation of the water quality standards is prohibited (18 AAC 70) Standard condition.
Groundwater Use Restrictions Irrigation wells at the Old Wasilla Airport are to be used only for irrigation purposes and not for human consumption.
Periodic Review ADEC will conduct a review of site conditions every three years.
Other MW-4 will need to be properly decommissioned following confirmation that the groundwater has achieved applicable cleanup levels.
Restricted to Recreational Land Use Future plans and development will be for public / recreation use and not for residential development on this property.
