Problems/Comments

Two major spills have occurred between the Stevens Village Tank Farm and the Washateria. In 1991, 1,000 gallons of #2 heating oil spilled when the end of a tank exploded from the Stevens Village Tank farm. In 2000, 750 gallons of heating oil released due to an overfilling event at the washateria day tank, which then breached the diked containment area of the Stevens Village Tank Farm and accumulated into a seasonal pond that drains into the Yukon River. PERP responded to this spill event, constructed an underflow dam, and recovered 350 gallons of diesel product. Currently as of 2013, for both of these spill events, there has been no site characterization or analytical samples collected.
