Problems/Comments
Contamination resulted from a 1992 spill from a 250-gallon day diesel fuel tank (AST) at the hotel's emergency generator building approximately 100' from Lake Spenard. Groundwater and soils are contaminated by diesel range organics. Initial steps taken to contain and cleanup the fuel. Potential for groundwater contamination of Lake Hood. Following soil excavation, diesel contaminated soil with concentrations of 6,000 to 14,000 mg/kg was left in place, in part due to utility and structural constraints. The highest level of contamination found in groundwater was 2.7 mg/L DRO.
