Problems/Comments

Approximately 6,000 gallons of Jet A-50. On 2/4/1992, fuel line broke under snow. The pipeline rupture was on the unsubdivided property, ran down a ditch through a culvert and onto the University of Alaska property described as Lot 5, Block 3, Cold Bay Alaska Subdivision. Maximum diesel range organics (DRO) concentrations detected in soils were 10,000 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg). Approximately 100 cubic yards of contaminated soils were removed. University of Alaska property has been remediated and No Further Action letter issued on 3/10/2003 which applies to that portion of the "site". The contaminated area of impact located off the University of Alaska property remains open / "active". Updated 4/27/2017 by ADEC's Paul Horwath.
