/15/2012 | Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other | Reviewed work plan for site characterization at LKSD Quinhagak School. Six to eight soil borings will be advanced near the tank farm. Soil samples will be screened with a PID and one sample per borehole will be submitted for analysis of GRO, DRO, RRO, BTEX, and SVOCs. The investigation is intended to support a school expansion project into the area of the 1992 fuel oil spill. | Bill O'Connell |
/22/2012 | Exposure Tracking Model Ranking | A new updated ranking with ETM has been completed for source area 72539 Spill from AST. | Bill O'Connell |
/18/2012 | Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other | Reviewed Environmental Site Characterization Report for LKSD Quinhagak School. 48 shallow soil borings were advanced by hand in November, 2011 and 16 horeholes were advanced using a direct push rig in February, 2012. Groundwater was not encountered in any of the boreholes, however one surface water sample was collected. Olfactory evidence of hydrocarbon impacts were noted in a discrete layer 1-1.5 feet bgs in borings RSE-3 and RSE-4 just south of the tank farm near the former spill area, however analytical samples from these boreholes did not contain contaminants above cleanup levels. Samples of highly organic peaty soil from boreholes C2 and F6 near the proposed school expansion area contained DRO at 290 mg/kg and 628 mg/kg. Contaminants were not detected in surface water. | Bill O'Connell |
/7/2012 | Exposure Tracking Model Ranking | A new updated ranking with ETM has been completed for source area 72539 Spill from AST. | Bill O'Connell |
/27/2012 | Cleanup Complete Determination Issued | The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, Contaminated Sites Program (ADEC) has completed a review of the environmental records associated with the Quinhagak Tank Farm-LKSD located at the Quinhagak School in Quinhagak, Alaska. Based on the information provided to date, it has been determined that the contaminant concentrations remaining on site do not pose an unacceptable risk to human health or the environment and this site will be closed. | Bill O'Connell |
