Problems/Comments
Diesel fuel spillage during transfer of fuel from 55 gallon drums to a 1500 AGT resulted in the contamination of up to 20 cubic yards of soil. Soil contamination apparently occurred over time. The tank was installed in 1983 and is used to fuel the power generator for the central office facility. Initial field investigation work including sampling was done by Rozak Engineering on October 27, 1992. Maximum diesel-range hydrocarbon concentrations in the samples taken were 21,300 and 35,700 ppm. The discharge was reported to the department by a letter sent December 31, 1992, and therefore was not reported to the department within the timeframes specified by 18 AAC 75 Article 3. (TU of the Northland, Inc. is dba PTI Communications, Inc.) Last staff assigned was Dronenburg.
