Problems/Comments
During a Phase II Site Sampling conducted by FDIC due to a violation of a Deed of Trust Note, six areas of concern were identified. Areas 1 and 3 have waste oil leaking from junk vehicles; Area 2 is two leaking 55-gallon barrels; Areas 4 and 5 are two piles of vehicle batteries; and Area 6 is a dumping area for waste oil/liquids. Samples collected from the barrel contents identified Chromium at 10.6 and 11.1 ppm, Lead at 4,610 and 4,880 ppm, and Total Halogens at 1,160 and 1,230 ppm. Six soil samples were collected from the six areas of concern, with four areas (areas 1, 2, 3 and 6) detecting Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons at 43,700 to 259,000 ppm, and Lead at 16 to 1,500 ppm, at depths of 12 to 18 inches below ground surface. It was estimated that a total of 60 to 90 cubic yards of contaminated soil remained on site.
