Problems/Comments

Petroleum Hydrocarbon Contamination found on site. Some gravel was excavated and thermally treated. Some Contamination underneath the building were allowed to remain in place. TPH up to 20,000 ppm and BTEX up to 175 ppm remain on site. Five-year monitoring program started in 1993. DNR Deadhorse Lease Tract 66A. East side of Colleen Lake. Last staff assigned was Sundet.

11/2/1992 Update or Other Action (Old R:Base Action Code = RARR - Remedial Action Report Review (CS)). Remediation and Monitoring Report for the Geofoam pad was received by the department on 12/10/92. 450 yards were excavated and thermally remediated. A 24 inch product recovery sump was installed inside the building. The sump will be routinely monitored and drawn-down. Fluids will be disposed of at the Pad 3 well. Mehrdad Nadem
1/18/1994 Update or Other Action Monitoring report received for 1993. This is the first of five years of scheduled monitoring. No monitoring well samples collected due to lack of water or ice buildup. Sheen noted on snowmelt ponds off the NE corner of the pad on June 19, 1993. A visible sheen was also noted here in 1990. 1/17/1995 Update or Other Action Received report of 1994 site monitoring program. This is 2nd year of five year monitoring program. Three temperature piezometers and two monitoring wells were installed. Pore water sampled and analyzed for BTEX and DRO. DRO found in MW1 and MW4 at 5.5 mg/kg and 1.0 mg/kg respectively. High DRO and BTEX still found in sump water. Scott Rose

5/2/2003 Conditional Closure Approved A decision to issue NFRAP for this site was based on impacted soil was excavated - except for beneath building and concrete floor. Pore water is discontinuous and not considered risk to transport contamination. Jim Frechione
