9/27/2010 Potentially Responsible Party/State Interest Letter Keather McLoone
9/30/2013 Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other Date of receipt of Sheen Monitoring report. Observations were made on July 28, 2013 about every ten feet at 84 locations around the perimeter of the pond that is located in between Exxon (N and E of Peak pad) and Peak's pad. First this was done without disturbing the sediment, then a shovel was used. Five locations were observed to have a sheen before disturbance and these were nearly contiguous along the SE potion of the pond at the downgradient end of the pond. Twenty two locations were associated with a petrogenic shovel sheen. Keather McLoone
10/7/2013 Update or Other Action Date of letter drafted requesting that surface water and sediment samples be collected between Pad 34 and the Exxon pad before DEC finalizes its evaluation of this site or the adjacent site for a potential change in status. Keather McLoone
9/3/2014 Site Visit Site visit conducted with Peak and Exxon representatives to observe surface water bodies and potential sheens. No sheens observed. Some wildlife present on one of the surface water bodies. These surface water bodies are extremely variable, particularly from year to year, in size and shape. Keather McLoone
11/7/2014 Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other Date of receipt of report entitled 2014 Work at the Pond between Tract 34 and Exxon Pad. Three co-located surface water and sediment samples sets were collected in this area as requested. Water samples were analyzed for TAH/TAqH and the sediment samples for BTEX and DRO. SLR also monitored the pond visually during two events while weekly monitoring was conducted by both Peak and Exxon. No exceedances of TAqH or TAH. DRO in sediment up to 1,230 mg/kg and benzene up to 0.533 mg/kg. Peak and Exxon are requesting that no further sampling or monitoring be required. Keather McLoone
12/19/2014 Update or Other Action Request for additional information regarding current status of sump etc. Keather McLoone
2/12/2015 Update or Other Action Date of email sent by Exxon stating that the sump had been filled in with clean gravel, attaching a figure to indicate that there currently are no site features (temporary or permanent) on top of the sump area, and no additional investigation is planned at this time. Keather McLoone
2/19/2015 Exposure Tracking Model Ranking A new updated ranking with ETM has been completed for source area 72729 Sump. Keather McLoone
3/24/2015 Update or Other Action Status was changed to nonqualifying in consultation with supervisor. Single DRO results on pad associated with sump. "Sump" has been covered with gravel. Exxon confirmed that this sump was not connected to anything. Keather McLoone
9/8/2015 Update or Other Action On today's date, Exxon notified ADEC CS of a sheen reported at the edge of this pad. A sample was collected. Meeting on 9/9/15 to discuss this sheen and sheen at West Staines site that had significant corrective action completed last winter. Keather McLoone
9/25/2015 Update or Other Action Change in status back to active as there was a recently observed sheen. Emailed data on today's date indicates that the sheen is not a TAH/TAqH exceedance. Exxon indicated that a workplan for additional sheen monitoring would be forthcoming. Also was notified there is a reserve pit at the end of the pad that is being addressed with some corrective action. Keather McLoone
1/28/2016 Meeting or Teleconference Held Meeting with Exxon and Exxon's consultants and DEC Solid Waste to discuss this site and two other Exxon sites. Keather McLoone

3/31/2016 Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other Reviewed the letter style work plan titled ADEC Additional Monitoring for Exxon North Slope Operations Center, dated February 26, 2016. Proposed activities include visual monitoring for petroleum sheens on and around the pad. Two samples will be collected and submitted for laboratory analysis of total aromatic hydrocarbons (TAH) and total aqueous hydrocarbons (TAqH) if petroleum sheening is observed. Joshua Barsis
4/1/2016 Update or Other Action Letter sent on this day as a follow up to the recent letter sent March 31, 2016. ADEC requested additional information in the work plan, as well as a work plan prepared by an impartial third party. Joshua Barsis

8/25/2016 Document, Report, or Work plan Review - other Reviewed the report titled Surface Water Sheen Investigation, dated August 25, 2016 for the Exxon North Slope Ops Center site. Activities consisted of sheen observation before and after sediment disturbance. Only sheens biogenic in nature were observed; therefore no samples were collected. It is suspected that the original sheen (observed in 2015) was actually biogenic in nature and not petrogenic. Further monitoring (outside general operations and as noted in the SWPPP) is not required. The status of this site will be changed back to non-qualifying, as it was before the sheen observation report in September of 2015. Joshua Barsis
