Six soil samples collected as part of Initial Site Assessment/Corrective Action by BEPCO. Screening was conducted at locations of soil discoloration (surrounding tanks and up to building) and the six highest were sent to the laboratory. DRO concentrations were up to 18,000 mg/kg. Assumed to be surface soil samples as report indicates permafrost at 6" bgs. Estimates contamination to be de minimis in extent < 25 cubic yards. | Keather McLoone |

1/3/2001 | Update or Other Action | Receipt date for Site Reconnaissance Emmonak Bulk Fuel Farm Assessment Project report by Hart Crowser. City Washeteria included in investigation conducted in October 2000. Only one of two tanks are on site at this time. Marshy ground. The one sample sent to the laboratory collected from 3.5 feet bgs was below most stringent cleanup levels for GRO, DRO, RRO, and BTEX - but this was not the sample with the highest screening result. Report mentions a 1997 ESA report "for this area" indicating "some petroleum impacts" but "used a very conservative cleanup level" before more recent regulations were in place but also states that the estimated amount of contamination was 462 cubic yards of soil above 1,000 mg/kg. Recommends more investigation. | Keather McLoone |
